The Bulgarian Industrial Association – Union of the Bulgarian Business (BIA) is a nationally recognized organization of employers. BIA participates in the operation of all national consultative councils, supervisory and managing bodies of state public institutions. BIA is a member of the National Tripartite Cooperation Council, the National agency for vocational education and training, and many others at ministerial level.

BIA’s principal objective is to integrate the interests of its members and promote their development for the realisation of effective and prosperous economic activities. The organisation protects and co-ordinates the interests of the employers on the national, industrial, regional, sector and sub-sector level through the branch (sector) and regional organisations of the employers – members of BIA.

BIA contributes to the establishment of economic relations and efficient trade co-operation between its members and partners from other countries. BIA has signed cooperation agreements with over 70 national business and employers’ organizations from the most developed countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA.

BIA is the only business organization which is a member of BUSINESSEUROPE, a confederate-like European business organization, thus representing the Bulgarian companies and employers’ interests on a European level. Furthermore, it actively participates in the work of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). BIA is also among the founders of the Union of Black Sea and Caspian Confederation of Enterprises (UBCCE).

The organization is very active, mainly, through its international organizations and programmes centre in the implementation of European-funded and other multilateral or bilateral projects. Besides, BIA has two departments working in the field of vocational education and training, and computer training.
