Youth unemployment is a major societal issue in Southern and Southeastern Europe. NEETs (young people not in education, employment or training) often struggle to enter the labour market due to skills shortage and insufficient training opportunities. Therefore, even sectors with huge development potential in these regions, such as cultural and heritage tourism cannot achieve any considerable growth.
